Why is Sandrine's Pilates different from other Pilates studios?
As the first – and original – Pilates venue in Tunbridge Wells, opening in 2001, we have guided and instructed thousands of clients working out daily on Reformers, Mat, TRX and Barre. For 15 years now we’ve helped clients tone muscles, walk taller and add more life to their years.
The important distinction between Sandrine’s Pilates and other studios is that our instructors are deeply involved with clients’ needs, working with you to design the most suitable workout.
Another key element of our overall approach is the ambience at the studio. Fully kitted with the finest range of Pilates equipment, the studio is open-plan and filled with natural light, giving a spacious, relaxing New York loft feel.
How do I book and pay?
All classes are booked using TeamUp, our online booking system. Please click on ‘Book/Schedule’ at the top of the page to get started.
You can either pay online by GoCardless (through the TeamUp system), or by bank transfer to our account if you prefer.
Is Pilates for men?
Joseph Pilates, the creator of this method, was a male boxer and athlete. His technique was initially created solely for men during the First World War. It was only much later that the method became popular with the dance community and women.
At the studio 30% of our clients are male, and we also have two male instructors.
What should I wear?
Wear something non-restrictive and comfortable, such as leggings or tracksuits bottoms and a confortable T-shirt.
Please wear non-slip socks (ToeSox are available at our shop).
We suggest that men who prefer to wear shorts, wear cycling or compression shorts underneath.
How can I cancel a class?
You can cancel your class directly online using our TeamUp booking system. Log into your TeamUp account and find the class that you wish to cancel on the dashboard page. Click on ‘Leave’ (on the right-hand side next to ‘Details’). Then click ‘Yes, unregister’.
NOTE: All cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the class is due to start. Our system does not allow us to refund if you cancel too late.
How often should I do Pilates?
We recommend attending classes 2 or 3 times per week in order to see fast results.
Even if you are only able to attend 1 class per week, we advise that you perform some exercises at home – you can visit our YouTube channel for workouts.
When will I see results?
Most people report that they feel taller, looser and more aware of their posture after just 10 sessions.
However, as with any exercise programme, results are entirely dependant on consistency and commitment.
Where can I park?
You can park for free in Castle Road for up to four hours (located behind the studio).
Alternatively, there is a car park on Major York’s Road (next to Castle Road), and a multi-storey car park at The Range (located next to the Tunbridge Wells Rail Station).
After 6pm, you are permitted to park on London Road (in front of the studio).
Are there changing rooms?
We do not have changing rooms, but we have two separate toilets, a massage room and a private room which can all be used to get changed in before and after your classes.
Am I too old for Pilates?
The beauty of the method is the way in which the exercises can be adapted to suit the needs of the individuals, regardless of their age.
Our clients consist of children, athletes, seniors and anything in between.
What do I need to bring?
All the equipment you require will be provided for you. You just need to bring yourself.
Can I do classes if I am pregnant?
At Sandrine’s Pilates, we offer specialised Pregnancy classes designed by Sandrine herself, mother of 5 children and Pilates master trainer.
